Integral Yoga founder Swami Satchidananda became known as the Woodstock guru after giving the opening address to 500,000 people at the 1969 music festival. Amidst the upheaval of the 6os, he taught how to find inner peace and contentment through yoga and meditation. This enjoyable documentary divided into five sections: asanas, nature, balance, wellness, and interfaith takes us on a whirlwind tour of his life and teachings, with video footage and stories from a few of the people whose lives he touched: Peter Max, Felix Cavaliere, Dr. Oz, Dr. Dean Ornish, Rabbi Gelberman, Brother David Steindl-Rast, as well as his senior monks and ashram residents. Lively, informative, and inspirational, Living Yoga is a lovely tribute to a highly revered yogi of the 20th century. –Yoga + Joyful Living magazine

It's more of the same from Shiva Rea with Fluid Power: Vinyasa Flow Yoga, and considering the quality of her previous DVD releases, that's a very good thing. With six pre-set practices (three intermediate "long flows" and three "short flows"), ranging from less than 30 minutes to nearly two hours, Fluid Power–described by Rea as a means to explore "the wave movement that is the reality of our fluid, quantum body" in order to "enhance circulation, longevity, and creativity and to satisfy amphibious longings," whatever that means–this is Rea's longest and most detailed presentation to date. Those familiar with her Yoga Shakti and Yoga Trance Dance will recognize certain elements from those programs here; Fluid Power generally combines Shakti's somewhat more traditional approach (e.g., poses that are held for several breaths) with the kind of creative expression fostered by Trance Dance, which favors constant, flowing movements (in the familiar downward facing dog, for instance, Rea encourages steady undulations of the spine, referred to as "circular wave patterns," as opposed to keeping the back long and straight).

If you're one-stop shopping for the hottest exercises, Denise Austin: Power Plus Yoga is the trendiest video around, containing a 20-minute yoga workout and a 20-minute Pilates workout. Designed to be done separately, each workout is a self-contained program. "Power Yoga" is a beginners workout, using familiar poses such as sun salutations and downward-facing dog. The movements are fluid, although Austin doesn't always provide enough information on proper body alignment and modifications. This workout is not meant as meditative–while the poses may be soothing, Austin's constant patter prevents the relaxation one associates with yoga. "Power Pilates" is a more challenging workout, although still meant for beginners, and Austin's commentary is more useful here, helping the viewer to keep the abs firm and the exercises challenging. This workout combines non-Pilates weight work (three- to five-pound dumbbells are required) and ballet moves to help tone the entire body. This video will provide a solid foundation in yoga and Pilates, helping you improve flexibility and feel stronger. –Jenny Brown
